THE FOUNDER
MAYANK GULATI, FOUNDER OF DNA.
An AI engineer and data scientist who builds custom AI systems for small businesses, and runs the kind of business he builds them for.
WHO IS MAYANK GULATI?
Mayank Gulati is the founder of Daily Needs Association, a Melbourne AI consultancy that designs and builds custom AI systems for small businesses. He is an AI engineer and data scientist with five years of experience in AI engineering and data science.
He also runs businesses of his own, which is why DNA builds systems that have to work in a real business, not just in a demonstration.
WHAT IS HIS BACKGROUND?
Mayank has spent five years working in AI engineering and data science. That work was about separating signal from noise and being honest about what the numbers can and cannot say. It is a habit that carries into every engagement: we would rather tell an owner that a project is not worth building than sell one that will not pay back.
During that time he kept working alongside founders who were losing their best hours to repetitive operations. Orders, client delivery, marketing, replies, content and operational checks all follow patterns, and patterns are what software is good at carrying.
WHY DID HE START DNA?
DNA began as an internal operating system for Walkie Walkie, one of Mayank's own ecommerce businesses. The problem was familiar to any owner: too many hours going to the same checks and follow-ups, and no wish to hand the business to an agency or stack up disconnected tools.
So he built a system that understood the work, carried the repeatable parts and left judgment with the person responsible. It was tested in a live business first. Clients are not the experiment, and the rule at DNA is that we do not hand a client something we would not run ourselves.
HOW DOES HE THINK ABOUT AI IN A BUSINESS?
The starting point is the business, not the technology. Mayank looks at how the work actually runs, finds the parts that repeat, and asks what each one costs. Then he separates what AI does well from what it does not.
Humans stay in charge of anything that touches a customer or money. The systems prepare and draft, and the owner approves. And the client owns what gets built, outright, with no subscription needed to keep it running. DNA's tagline for this is simple: we build it, you own it.
He sits on both sides of the problem. He understands the technology well enough to build it properly, and he runs businesses that show quickly whether a system is actually useful.
WHO DOES HE WORK WITH?
DNA works with three kinds of owner: lean ecommerce store owners, agencies and coaches, and influencers and creators. In each case the person is running an existing operation, doing most of the work themselves, and looking for their week back.
You can read more about what the company does on the about page, the services page, or in our overview of what an AI consultant does for a small business.
HOW CAN YOU WORK WITH HIM?
It starts with a free 30-minute call. If it makes sense to go further, the next step is a $499 Diagnosis, a written AI adoption blueprint for your business. If you want the first system built, the build is $4,499 over one to two weeks, with the Diagnosis credited toward it. There is no subscription, and an optional retainer is only offered after the build.
Thirty minutes is enough to tell you whether AI can help right now, and what we would change first.
