It fetches the live page once, along with the site's robots.txt and sitemap, and checks the structural basics that decide whether Google and AI answer engines can find the page, understand it and trust it. It does not measure rankings or backlinks. It tells you whether the foundations are in place.
The checks, in plain English
- Title and meta description: present, unique and short enough to show in full in search results.
- Headings: one clear H1, with the rest of the page organised under it.
- Canonical: the page tells search engines which version of the URL is the real one, so duplicates do not split your ranking.
- Open Graph: the page shows a proper title and image when someone shares it on social or in a message.
- Image alt text: images are described, which helps accessibility and image search.
- Robots.txt and sitemap: crawlers are allowed in and can find every page you want indexed.
What to fix first
Fix anything that blocks crawling first, such as a robots.txt rule or a missing sitemap, because nothing else matters if the page cannot be read. Then fix titles and descriptions, since they decide whether people click. Headings, Open Graph and alt text come next. If you want to see how a shared link looks after your changes, run it through the social card previewer.
